Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is from the fourth generation of Roberts family who lived in Atlanta. It began with her great grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was a farm. In the early years of his life the father of her mother became obsessed by the theatre. When he was a student of Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. When he joined in 1953 the Air force and was spotted together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, the couple married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter was studying at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957 they were discharged from the air force and Walter started his education at Tulane University. Walter joined Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio when the family moved from Atlanta to Decatur, Georgia in 1960. In 1964, Walter along with Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's television program called Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded on their own. Later that year they founded The Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for six years. They welcomed in 1965 two new children: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
